Hello, and welcome
to Aspengrove Siberians online!

We are a small
show/working kennel & site of a future breed rescue located in the heart of Nebraska, USA.
We love Siberians, and are working hard to ensure the health and
soundness of the breed. We OFA test (hips), and CERF test
(eyes) our dogs; as well as having DNA on file with the AKC.
We do not breed until our dogs are at least 2 yrs of age, and only after they
have passed rigorous health screening. Our dogs also have to
meet our expectations for the show ring or in harness. We breed for
quality, not quantity.
We actually
use our dogs for what they were originally intended. Sledding!
This is a great test for the quality of any Siberian. If they
can't run and pull, they don't make the cut! As many wise dog
people have said, "Form follows function."
We do show our dogs
on a limited basis in AKC (American Kennel Club) conformation. We are just getting started, and
have A LOT to learn about the dog show world!
Rescue and
the support of our local shelters is very close to our hearts.
We adopted Yukon and we have never been the same! I am a
member of our local YAAP (Adopt-A-Pet), and do temperament
assessments and basic obedience training to make the dogs more
adoptable. We donate time and supplies as we can. We
also foster homeless Siberians for local shelters. We have decided
to open our own Siberian Husky rescue in the near future.
Shelters often don't have the time or resources to be knowledgeable
about every breed or mix that comes in. Our goal with
Aspengrove Siberian Rescue is to take in homeless Siberians in our area,
rehabilitate medically or assess any behavioral problems, and
re-home according to each individual dog and potential family.
We will take owner surrenders (after all else fails), help unburden
local shelters by taking their Siberians, and save Siberians sentenced
to death in high-kill shelters. |
We are members in good standing of the Seward
County Kennel Club & York Adopt-A-Pet.

A note about our pack...
In many of the pictures
you will see on our site, the dogs are off-leash and running free.
This is because we have an underground fence, although we do have a few
dogs we can trust without having a receiver collar on. There are
special circumstances within our pack dynamic that make this possible.
For your dog's safety, please have a fenced yard, and always keep
him/her on leash. Even the best trained Siberians will take off at
a seconds notice. The situation at our kennel is an exception, not
the rule. Please, avoid heartache and keep your pet safe!

So you want a Siberian?
Yukon poses with the hair I just raked off of him.
This is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg, folks. We have been known
to joke that it looks like a sheep exploded in our yard after a good grooming
session with the dogs!
